The Sapphire Damselfish has a bright blue colour usually with some black markings on its body. It can also be completely blue without the black markings on its body and it's suspected that these two may actually be two different species. It can also turn itself completely black to evade predators. Like other Damsels and members of the Pomacanthidae family although peaceful it can get quite aggressive to slower moving fish. Especially those that hang around their crib for too long as they are territorial about their algae gardens.

Tank Recommendations for Sapphire Damselfish

Sapphire Damselfish is a territorial fish so bigger the tank the better. The smallest tank size that you keep them in should be at least 136 litres.

The tank should have plenty of live rock which will help to provide hiding places. This can also help to break up territories if shared with other Damsels and or other territorial tank buddies.
